Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Split Infinity.
How does payment splitting work?
When a payer submits a payment through your team's link, Split Infinity collects the full amount via
Stripe Checkout. The platform fee is deducted first, then Stripe's processing fee (2.9% + $0.30) is
subtracted from the remainder. The resulting net amount is then divided among team members according
to their configured share percentages and paid out to each member's connected Stripe account. The
entire process is automatic — no manual action is required after a payment is received.
What payment methods are accepted?
Split Infinity uses Stripe Checkout to process payments, so payers can use any card or payment method
that Stripe supports in your region — typically Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and debit cards.
Stripe also supports Apple Pay, Google Pay, and various local payment methods depending on the
payer's country. No account is required from the payer's side; they simply open the link and pay.
When will I receive my payout?
Payout timing is determined by your Stripe Express account settings and Stripe's payout schedule,
which is typically 2–7 business days after a payment is received, depending on your country and
account type. You can check your payout schedule and history directly in your Stripe Express
dashboard. Split Infinity initiates the transfer to your Stripe account as soon as the payment
is successfully processed and confirmed.
How are fees calculated?
Two fees are deducted from each payment before the net amount is distributed. First, the platform
fee (a configurable percentage set by the platform administrator, typically a small percentage) is
taken from the gross payment amount. Second, Stripe's processing fee — 2.9% of the gross amount
plus $0.30 — is deducted. The remaining balance is the amount split among team members. For example,
on a $100 payment with a 2% platform fee, the platform retains $2.00, Stripe retains $3.20, and
the remaining $94.80 is distributed to members according to their shares.
Do I need a Stripe account to receive payments?
Yes. To receive your share of team payments, you must connect a Stripe Express account via the
My Account page. Stripe uses Express accounts to handle identity verification
and payout routing in compliance with financial regulations. The onboarding process is guided
by Stripe and typically takes a few minutes. Until your Stripe account is active, your share of
any payments will not be transferred to you — check with your team owner about how pending
distributions are handled.
What happens if a member's share percentages don't add up to 100%?
Share percentages must total exactly 100% before they can be saved. If the total is not 100%,
the Members page will display a validation error and no changes will be committed. It's the team
owner's responsibility to ensure shares are correctly distributed at all times — particularly
after inviting new members (who start at 0%) or when a member leaves the team.
Can I change my share percentage after joining a team?
Individual members cannot change their own share percentages. Only the team owner can adjust
share allocations for all members on the Members page. If you believe your
share is incorrect, contact your team owner to have it updated. Changes take effect immediately
for future payments — they do not affect payments that have already been processed.
How do I leave a team?
Go to the team's Members page and click Leave next to your name.
You will be asked to confirm before the change takes effect. Once you leave, your share percentage
is set to zero and you lose access to the team. The remaining members' shares will need to be
redistributed by the team owner. Note that team owners must transfer ownership to another member
before they can leave a team.
Is my payment and personal data secure?
Yes. Split Infinity never stores card numbers, bank details, or other sensitive payment information —
all payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
Split Infinity stores only a reference ID linking your account to your Stripe Express account.
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS, and all sensitive actions (sign-ins, payment events,
membership changes) are recorded in an audit log. See the Security page
for full details.
What happens if a payment fails or is refunded?
If a payment fails during Stripe Checkout, no funds are captured and no distribution is created.
The payer is notified by Stripe and can try again. If a completed payment is refunded (initiated
through Stripe), the corresponding distribution records are marked as reversed and no further
transfers are made to members. Refunds on already-transferred amounts may need to be recovered
manually — contact the platform administrator if you encounter this situation.
